Steel Fence Wire, Medium Tensile

Steel fence wire with class Medium Tensile strength. Heavily galvanized, 100 % zinc, steel wire made in Finland.

Hot-dip galvanized steel wire is available in two thicknesses:

• 2.0 mm, tensile strength 270 kg
• 2.5 mm, tensile strength 400 kg.

High Tensile: higher tensile strength, but less elasticity.

Medium Tensile: Lower tensile strength, but higher elasticity.

Medium Tensile wire has a lower tensile strength than High Tensile wires, but is more flexible than high tensile wires.

In a sense, Medium Tensile is easier to handle; it does not break as easily when knotted as stronger High Tensile wires. On the other hand, Medium Tensile wire stretches significantly more when tightened than High Tensile wires, so if you want to build a fence where the steel wire is is tightly tensioned, you should choose a harder High Tensile wire.

Tip! Use a High Tensile reel when building a steel wire fence. The reel makes it easier to handle the wire and prevents it from twisting.
