Elastic Gate Rope 25 m

 The elastic gate rope is a conductive, durable, and elastic fence rope intended for gates and supplied in 25 m rolls. Rope diameter: 8 mm. The rope sold by the meter is an excellent choice for making a gate of the exactly right size!

A gate made using the elastic gate rope is especially handy for horses: If installed correctly, the rope gate cannot fall down and give a shock to the animal through the wet ground, for example.

Tip! The elastic gate rope is intended to be installed so that the rope is taut when the gate is closed. You need a piece of rope shorter than the width of the gate. Measure and also try to stretch the rope at the gate before cutting the rope from the roll so you don‘t accidentally make the gate too loose or too tight. This way, you avoid incorrect measurements and no rope is wasted.

If you want to implement a gate where the gate rope cannot fall to the ground, build the gate as follows:

• Attach the beginning of the rope gate to the post following the gate post. When the gate is closed, the rope is suitably tight when the rope and handle are not hanging. When the gate is open, the handle of a correctly sized rope gate retracts to the other side of the gate and does not fall to the ground.
• Note that the post spacing must be suitable for building this type of gate; For example, you may need to add a new fence post next to the gate if your current post spacing does not support such a structure.
• Do not stretch the rope to the extreme, it will shorten the life of the rope. A rope that is too tight also makes it difficult to use the gate.
• Use rope connectors and Rope end connectors to ensure spark–free connections. With stainless steel connectors, you can build the longest–lasting connections.

With a flexible rope gate, you should use Olli‘s heavy-duty gate handle, which has a compression spring that compresses instead of stretching when the handle is pulled. They last significantly longer than regular gate handles in a gate with a flexible gate rope, where the handle is subject to constant pull.

Tip! You can attach the rope gate at the beginning to its own, separate insulator (e.g. Olli ring insulator), which is not connected to the actual fence wire at all. In this case, the gate only receives electricity from the handle side and is only electrified when closed. This makes it easier to pass through the gate, for example, with horses that are nervous about the electric fence. In this case, ensure the flow of electricity also on the other side of the gate when the gate is open.

Tip! When connecting a fence rope or an elastic gate rope to a gate insulator or gate handle, the connection easily sparks. To fix the problem, make gate connections using the Rope end connector. The rope end connector is used in conjunction with the rope connector.
